Rights of Sindhi women, children raised at UNHRC

Geneva, Switzerland (ANI) September 26 (ANI): At the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, concerns over child and forced marriages and alleged human rights violations against women and girls in Sindh were raised during a side event titled “Child Enforced Marriage as a Gender-Based Violence.” Global Human Rights Defence Coordinator Alejandra Martinez Otero and Sindhi women’s rights activist Dr Shagufta Kandhro highlighted concerns over the rights of women and children, calling for greater attention and protection. The speakers urged the UN and international community to address cases of early and child marriages and alleged violations affecting communities in Pakistan.
