Hanoi [Vietnam], February 25: Following the viral video on social media, TikToker Thắng Khong Kịp unexpectedly received a notification from a brand that they were terminating their partnership.
Over the past 24 hours, Google Trends has seen a surge in keywords related to Thang Phong (the owner of the TikTok channel Thang Khong Kip with nearly 600,000 followers). The incident stemmed from a negative video that went viral on social media, leading many to believe the person in the clip was the young content creator.
According to data from Google Trends, the keywords "TikToker Thang", "Thang Phong", and "Thang Khong Kip" began to grow from the afternoon of February 23rd and peaked at 100 points on the morning of February 24th. Variations such as "Who is TikToker Thang?" or "Phung Van Thang" also simultaneously recorded a "surge" in search volume, indicating increased interest from the online community in the controversy surrounding the 31-year-old content creator.
TikToker Wins Too Late
Phung Van Thang, born in 1995, is a content creator primarily active on the TikTok platform. He is known by the names Thang Phong or Thang Khong Kip. His content focuses on entertaining videos, exploring situations surrounding family life and common social issues. He is also involved in affiliate marketing and has appeared in media campaigns for several technology retail chains in Vietnam.
When the clip went viral on social media, many people hoped the TikToker would provide an official response. Meanwhile, many netizens questioned the responsibility of celebrities in maintaining their image.
Related to the controversy, a brand recently attracted attention by announcing the termination of its media partnership with this content creator. According to the published announcement, the decision was made based on the company's core operating principle of "placing ethical standards and kindness as a guiding principle in all its operations." "We firmly say no to all forms of physical or mental violence," the brand wrote in the announcement.
This move soon became a popular search topic, reflecting public concern about brands' responsibility towards influencers.
