Hanoi [Vietnam], April 18: After a long absence from the film industry , artist Van Son unexpectedly returned with the film project " Blood Moon Feast 8" . In the film, he plays the husband of Le Khanh, a pairing that has piqued the curiosity of many viewers. Sharing about how he accepted the role, the male artist said it was not an easy decision, because he is very "picky" about scripts.
Van Son recounted that decades ago, he had the opportunity to watch the original version of the film and was immediately captivated. "I found it to be a very clever work , touching right on my 'profession'," he said.
Beyond its compelling script structure, the story evokes something almost everyone has experienced: the passion of youth. The artist revealed that, as children, everyone dreams of becoming a certain role model. But as adults, people are gradually dominated by the pressures of academics, family, society, money, or relationships, causing passions to be forgotten. It was the message "hold onto your passion" that resonated deeply with him.
One of the key factors that convinced him to participate was the involvement of director Charlie Nguyen. Van Son revealed that the two have known each other since their time in Vietnam and continued to stay in touch after moving to the US. He particularly admires his friend for his unwavering pursuit of his passion for filmmaking, despite having studied an unrelated field.
"I once asked him why so many people make films worth hundreds of billions of dong, but he doesn't? Charlie replied, 'I make films, not money.' That statement earned my great respect," Van Son recounted. According to him, this consistency is what has created a Charlie Nguyen with his own unique personality and ability to win over audiences.
Van Son returns with the trust of his co-stars.
Besides the director, the cast is also a crucial reason why Van Son has faith in the project. Sharing with us, Van Son said he has a lot of affection for his co-star Le Khanh, whom he has admired for over 15 years. "Le Khanh has the appearance of a dramatic actress, very beautiful, but she acts in comedies with incredible charm. That's similar to me, so I really like her," he shared.
Besides praising her appearance and acting style, Van Son also believes that Le Khanh's versatility between drama and comedy is what gives her her unique appeal. He says that playing a married couple on screen feels natural thanks to the chemistry between the two.
Besides Le Khanh, Van Son also praised Lam Thanh My. He said the young actress possesses impressive acting skills, to the point that he completely believed in the father-daughter relationship in the film. "Making a father believe that it's his daughter is not easy, but Thanh My did it," he said.
Meanwhile, Miu Le, along with actors like Quoc Khanh, Quynh Ly, and Lien Binh Phat, were considered by him to be "professional" actors, especially suitable for long scenes requiring continuous emotion. "I like this script, I like working with these people. For me, that's enough to accept the offer," Van Son confided.
More than just a role, Van Son's return this time also carries the meaning of a reminder about the journey of pursuing one's passion. From his personal story to the message of the film, the male artist believes that everyone, regardless of age, should retain a part of their initial enthusiasm .
"We all have dreams. The important thing is whether we have the courage to hold onto them and make them come true," Van Son shared.
