US warns of Kremlin plan to share satellite technology with Pyongyang

Seoul [South Korea], January 7: Russia intends to share advanced space and satellite technology with its ally North Korea, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned on Monday.
Speaking at a press briefing with his South Korean counterpart Cho Tae Yul in Seoul, Blinken said the transfer would be in exchange for North Korea's military support for Russia's war against Ukraine. According to South Korean and US estimates, Pyongyang in recent months sent ammunition, heavy weapons and more than 11,000 soldiers to Russia to support the invasion of its neighbour.
Blinken also said that Russia is thought to be on the verge of formally recognizing North Korea as a nuclear state.
Hours before the press conference, North Korea, which already has nuclear warheads, test-fired a ballistic missile towards the Sea of Japan, also known to Koreans as the East Sea. (DPA)
