UN appeals for $4.07 billion to support Gaza, West Bank

Dec 12, 2024

New York [US], December 12: The United Nations launched an urgent humanitarian appeal today, calling for US$4.07 billion to address the most pressing needs of approximately 3 million people in Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, in 2025.
A statement issued by the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) emphasised that the needs have sharply increased due to the consequences of intensive and ongoing military operations, repeated evacuation orders, and restrictions limiting humanitarian agencies' ability to deliver aid to those in need.
The UN and its partners have estimated that the actual needs of the Palestinian people amount to US$6 billion, a significantly higher figure than the amount announced in the urgent appeal.
