Damascus [Syria], August 15: At least two people have been killed in a large explosion near the city of Idlib in north-western Syria, officials said on Thursday.
Four others were injured, according to the local health authority.
The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a war monitor which obtains its information from a network of local informants, reported that four people had been killed in the incident, and two injured.
Syrian civil defence said the cause of the explosion is not yet known, and that its workers at the scene are involved in a large-scale operation.
Eyewitnesses spoke of several subsequent explosions.
The Observatory said that the explosions occurred in a weapons depot belonging to foreign fighters. Drones were reportedly seen in the air at the time of the incident. (DPA)
