Hanoi [Vietnam], April 25: For Ngo Thai Ngan, winning the 'Listen to Me Sing 2023' competition was an unforgettable milestone, helping Ngoc Son's protege enter a new chapter in her career.
One of the unforgettable milestones in Ngo Thai Ngan 's career was winning the " Listen to Me Sing 2023 " competition . Before achieving this success, the 9X singer went through a challenging journey in her career. Ngoc Son's protege confessed: "Before that, I struggled a lot in competitions, encountering so many problems that I even considered never competing again."
After a period of silence for reflection, she received an invitation to participate in "Listen to Me Sing." It was at this fateful moment that her tireless efforts were rewarded, allowing her to shine in her signature genres of bolero and folk music. For Ngo Thai Ngan, the competition not only opened up many opportunities but also gave the singer renewed motivation to continue pursuing her passion.
The transformation of Ngoc Son's student
When talking about her career, Ngo Thai Ngan fondly recalls the early days when she faced opposition from her family. Orphaned at the age of 10, Ngoc Son's student was her mother's only hope. Out of concern for her daughter's struggles in a foreign land, her mother vehemently opposed the singer's move to Ho Chi Minh City to pursue her career.
The singer revealed for the first time: "My mother even came all the way here to take me home. After those times, there was one time I decided to run away from home to pursue my passion to the very end." Ngo Thai Ngan's perseverance and belief in music convinced her mother. Only when the singer achieved her first successes in the profession did her parents fully trust her and become the strongest support system for the 32-year-old singer.
Born into a family where both parents were cải lương ( traditional Vietnamese opera) artists , Ngo Thai Ngân was immersed in traditional melodies from an early age. However, she shared a rather surprising fact: "My parents never taught me anything. I learned everything by listening to and imitating the songs my parents sang."
Although she initially intended to pursue a career in cải lương (traditional Vietnamese opera) like her family, fate led her to switch to music. It was this foundation in folk songs and melodies that gave Ngo Thai Ngân her sweet voice, allowing her to win over audiences with songs like " Mau hoa bí," "Hai lối mộng ," and "Bai ca đất Phương Nam"...
After winning the competition, Ngo Thai Ngan's life entered a new chapter with a packed performance schedule. However, she received many questions from fans about why she has released fewer products recently. The singer smiled and shared: "Before winning the award, I was very diligent in releasing products. But after winning the trophy, because of the extremely busy work and constant shows, the time I have for filming music videos has been limited." However, to show her gratitude to her fans, Ngo Thai Ngan revealed that she is reducing her workload to focus on new music projects, which are expected to be released at the end of this year.
Although known for her bolero music, Ngo Thai Ngân now frequently performs upbeat pop songs to suit the atmosphere of various events. However, deep down, she still holds a special place for sentimental ballads. Sharing her future plans, Ngo Thai Ngân revealed that she is working on a special album dedicated to her mother. This is not only a gift for her parent but also a tribute to all mothers around the world
