Barcelona [Spain], March 15: Spain's extensive experience in automobile manufacturing and its integration into international markets make it an attractive destination for foreign automakers, a Spanish expert said on Friday.
Sergi Basco, associate professor of economics at Barcelona University, told Xinhua that Spain has a long history of car manufacturing and "is well connected with other markets."
Spain possesses the necessary conditions to be considered a prime location for a foreign automaker like China's BYD, he said.
"Access to the sea, strong transport links, and the expertise of Spain's automotive sector all contribute to making the country a viable option for Chinese car production," he added,
He emphasized that Spain's established know-how in the industry is a key competitive advantage.
Basco also highlighted the role of government support in attracting investment from automakers, noting that many companies take into account the level of government cooperation and incentives when deciding where to establish new factories.
