Aug 06, 2025

Kyiv [Ukraine], August 6: The Scandinavian NATO countries Sweden, Denmark and Norway are providing a total of more than $500 million for an initiative to speed up arms deliveries from the United States to Ukraine.
Sweden is contributing $275 million to the Prioritized Ukraine Requirement List (PURL) initiative coordinated by NATO, with Denmark pledging 580 million Danish kroner ($90 million) and Norway 1.5 billion Norwegian kroner ($146 million), the governments of the three countries announced on Tuesday.
As part of the initiative, the participating countries will purchase defence equipment from the United States and then make it available to Ukraine so that it can defend itself against the ongoing Russian invasion.
The Scandinavian package includes missiles for Patriot air defence systems, Sweden's Defence Minister Pal Jonson told a press conference in Stockholm.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte thanked the three countries for their contribution.
The funding ensures the delivery of life-saving equipment and essential goods to the front line, strengthening Ukraine's position and helping it to fend off aggression while striving for lasting peace, Rutte said in a post on X. The Scandinavian countries have been among the largest donors to Ukraine since the outbreak of the Russian war in Ukraine almost three and a half years ago.
The Netherlands had already announced a similar package worth around $500 million as part of PURL on Monday.
