Putin pleased with Trumpsummit

Moscow [Russia], August 17: Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday praised the results of his summit meeting with US President Donald Trump in Alaska.
"The conversation was very open, rich in content, and, in my opinion, brings us closer to the desired solutions," Putin said ahead of a meeting with representatives of the Russian leadership at the Kremlin, where he intended to elaborate on the details of the summit behind closed doors.
"We have not had direct negotiations of this kind at such a level for a long time," he added, according to the TASS news agency.
Putin stated that Russia respects the US government's position on the necessity of a swift end to hostilities in Ukraine.
"Well, we would also welcome this and want to resolve all issues by peaceful means," the Russian president said. (DPA)
