Moscow [Russia], March 4: Russian President Vladimir Putin has discussed the war in the Middle East in a telephone conversation with Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orban, according to the Kremlin.
"The drastically escalating situation around Iran and the entire Middle East region was discussed," the Kremlin press service said in a statement on Tuesday, "including the possible consequences for the state of the global energy market." Putin praised Hungary's position as balanced and independent, the Kremlin said, adding that the Russian leader emphasized that Budapest is fundamentally in favour of a diplomatic solution to the conflict. Within the EU, Orban is considered the leader with the best relations with the Kremlin.
