Over 90,000 suspects arrested over drug-related offenses in Sri Lanka this year

Colombo (Sri Lanka), December 12: Sri Lankan police said on Saturday that over 90,000 people have been arrested so far this year over drug-related offenses.
Police spokesman NihalThalduwa said that among the arrested suspects, 45,801 were apprehended over heroin-related violations and 1,441 kilos of heroin were confiscated.
The spokesman said 34,062 were arrested for possession of cannabis, with 11,881 kilos of cannabis being confiscated.
Some 109 kilos of crystal methamphetamine were confiscated with 10,532 being arrested, he added.
