Niger cancels EU missions

Abuja [Nigeria], December 6: EU foreign policy chief JosepBorrell expressed regret on Tuesday at a decision by the ruling military junta in Niger to cancel cooperation with two EU missions.
The European Union will "draw the necessary operational consequences," after cancellation of the EUCAP Sahel Niger capacity building mission and the EUMPM military partnership mission, Borrell said.
The decision, which was announced by the Nigerien Foreign Ministry late on Monday, came after a visit by Russian Deputy Defence Minister Yunus-bekYevkurov, during which a defence and cooperation agreement was signed.
