Valletta [Malta], March 15: Representatives from more than 60 countries were in Malta this week and agreed on a revised set of United Nations (UN) guiding principles for national and regional counter-terrorism strategies, known as the Valletta Principles.
In a statement on Friday, the Maltese Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Tourism said the guiding principles were agreed upon during the UN Conference on National and Regional Counter-Terrorism Strategies which was held in Malta this week.
The revised principles will serve as a key global framework to guide countries in developing and implementing national and regional counter-terrorism strategies, the statement said.
Maltese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism Ian Borg will submit the Valletta Principles to the UN Security Council and the UN General Assembly in the coming days.
