Magnitude 5.8 earthquake strikes coast of central Chile

Santiago [Chile], June 1: An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale struck near the coast of central Chile at 21:34 GMT on Sunday.
The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported that the earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 10 kilometres. The epicentre was initially determined to be at 32.78 degrees south latitude and 71.82 degrees west longitude.
