Jun 16, 2025

Paris [France], June 16: French President Emmanuel Macron was to visit Greenland on Sunday, in a show of support for the autonomous Danish territory coveted by US President Donald Trump.
Macron would visit alongside Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, with the leaders planing to discuss the security situation in the North Atlantic and the Arctic with Greenland's Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen.
The French leader's visit is seen as a signal of European unity for Greenland, and comes hours ahead of his participation in the G7 summit in Alberta, Canada, in which Trump will also take part. Macron's talks in Greenland are also to address economic development, climate change and renewable energy, his office said.
