'Macarena wing' to return on Ferrari cars for Japan F1 weekend: Report

Mar 18, 2026

Namoce savours unforgettable Drua debut in BaTokyo [Japan], March 18: Ferrari are set to again use a "Macarena wing" on their cars ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix on March 29 despite the revolutionary gizmo not being ready yet for race conditions. At last weekend's grand prix practice in Shanghai, the Italian team showed off a rear wing that can flip 180 degrees - hence the nickname from the famous dance. Ferrari even played the song in their garage in China. Autosport reported on Tuesday that valuable aerodynamic data was gleaned and that the system will be used for Japan, although it is unlikely to be employed in the actual race. Lewis Hamilton picked up his first podium for Ferrari in China at the start of his second season with the team. Mercedes duo Kimi Antonelli and George Russell were well ahead. (DPA)
