Israeli army chief issues new warning to Iran

Oct 30, 2024

Tel Aviv [Israel], October 30: Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the country's military, Herzi Halevi on October 29 warned Iran not to attack again after Israel airstrikes on military targets in Iran on October 26.
Speaking to servicemen at Ramon Air Base in southern Israel , Halevi said that if Iran "makes a mistake and launches another barrage of missiles at Israel, we will know how to reach Iran again," according to The Times of Israel .
Halevi said the reason Israel refrained from attacking missile factories and other Iranian sites on October 26 was because "we might have to attack again." He stressed: "We are not finished with this, we are in the middle."
Mr. Halevi further warned that if Iran attacks again, Israel will "strike Iran, with capabilities that we have not even used this time, and will strike fiercely even the capabilities and locations that we have spared this time."
Israel's retaliatory attack on Iranian military facilities on October 26 came weeks after Iran's October 1 attack, in which Iran launched 200 ballistic missiles into Israel, sending most of the population running to bomb shelters and safe havens, causing relatively minor damage to military bases and some residential areas, according to The Times of Israel .
Iran has tried to downplay the damage caused by Israel's October 26 attack, according to The Times of Israel . On October 27, Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said that "the damage should not be exaggerated or downplayed."
Commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Hossein Salami asserted that Israel had "failed to achieve its goals", warning of "unimaginable bitter consequences" for Israel.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghei also warned that Tehran would use "all available tools" to respond.
