Nov 19, 2025

Mexico City [Mexico], November 19: Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum responded on November 18 after US President Donald Trump left open the possibility of allowing an attack on Mexico if necessary, according to AFP.
"That will not happen," Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said at a press conference, responding to President Trump 's warning that he would do "whatever has to be done," not ruling out attacks within Mexican territory, according to AFP.
"We don't want interference from any foreign government. There is cooperation and coordination, but not dependence," Ms. Sheinbaum stressed.
Referring to a 19th-century war, Ms. Sheinbaum declared: "We cannot allow any intervention."
On November 17, President Trump told reporters: "Would I attack Mexico to stop the drugs? That's fine with me. I'm not saying I'm going to do it, but I'm proud to do it. Because we're going to save millions of lives by doing it."
Mr. Trump's threat came as the US deployed an aircraft carrier and other significant military forces near Venezuela .
US forces have attacked more than 20 ships suspected of carrying drugs, killing at least 83 people, according to AFP. The Pentagon said that ships in the Caribbean and Pacific were transporting drugs and threatening the US, but they did not provide specific evidence, according to AFP.
