Hot air balloons crash in Turkiye, killing one and injuring 19

Istanbul [Turkey], June 16: Two hot air balloons crashed in central Turkiye, killing at least one person and injuring 19 others, state broadcaster TRT reported on Sunday.
The fatality was said to be one of the balloon pilots, while the injured were Indonesian tourists. The accident occurred during a flight that began in the scenic Ihlara Valley, part of the Cappadocia region - a major tourist destination known for its dramatic landscapes and balloon rides that draw hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.
The pilot was forced to make a hard landing due to strong winds. He became entangled in ropes, fell under the balloon basket, and died, TRT quoted the provincial governor as saying.
