Finnish, Latvian PMs meet on bilateral cooperation, Baltic security

Helsinki [Finland], November 25: Finland's Prime Minister Petteri Orpo met with his Latvian counterpart EvikaSilina here on Friday to bolster bilateral cooperation and address security issues in the Baltic region.
They discussed trade expansion, collaboration in security and defense, as well as seamless cooperation in the Nordic and Baltic region in the current geopolitical context, the Finnish government said in a press release.
The two prime ministers also exchanged their concerns about asylum seekers at their countries' borders and both countries seek to enhance cyber security.
Other topics on their agenda included the European Union (EU) enlargement, the mid-term revision of the bloc's long-term financial framework, and the EU's strategic agenda for the next five years.
Orpo voiced Finland's support for Latvia's bid to become a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council in 2026-2027.
