FIFA donates $1m for Venezuela quake relief

Caracas [Venezuela], July 13: World football body FIFA announced on Friday that its charitable arm would be committing $1 million to support relief efforts following the devastating earthquake in Venezuela. Minute's silences have been held at games during the World Cup as a mark of respect to the dead.
The current death toll is 3,811. FIFA said in a statement that the funding from its foundation will help provide urgent humanitarian assistance to those impacted by the disaster, supporting emergency response efforts and helping communities begin the road to recovery.
"The people of Venezuela have the full solidarity of the global football family during this incredibly difficult time," said FIFA president Gianni Infantino. (DPA)
