Islamabad [Pakistan], February 5: Seven members of a single family have been killed in mysterious circumstances in Afghanistan's northern province of Balkh, police said on Saturday.
The killing occurred on Friday night in Chemtal district, provincial police spokesman Mohammad Asif Waziri told dpa.
Five children were killed with a knife, while the husband and wife were found dead from a pistol shot, Waziri added.
Images shared by police show that the victims were killed while sleeping in bed. According to police, the family had a history of personal hostility but it is unclear if it was the motive behind the murder.
Last June, a man shot dead 10 members of his family, including his wives and children, in the country's south-western province of Farah. (dpa)
