Czech Republic to continue training Ukrainian pilots: PM

Prague [Czech Republic], May 6: The Czech Republic will continue training Ukrainian pilots and supplying ammunition and heavy equipment to the country, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala announced on Monday.
"Today we agreed to focus, together with partners in the coalition willing, to train Ukrainian pilots in L-39 and F-16 aircraft in the Czech Republic. Ukraine is already training helicopter and fighter pilots on Czech-made simulators," Fiala said in a government statement after meeting with visiting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Fiala noted that since the beginning of the year, half a million pieces of large-caliber ammunition have been delivered to Ukraine.
On Sunday, Czech President Petr Pavel said that Ukraine could receive up to 1.8 million pieces of large-caliber ammunition by the end of this year if everything goes as agreed. Last year, the Czech Republic delivered about 1.5 million pieces of large-caliber ammunition to Ukraine.
The two sides also discussed strengthening economic cooperation.
"Skoda Transportation and other companies are planning supplies in the transport sector. We talked about the possibility of strengthening cooperation in the field of nuclear energy. Czech companies are ready to play an active role in the reconstruction of key infrastructure," Fiala said.
