Hanoi [Vietnam], April 18: According to HK01, a video recently shared on social media showing Chow Yun-fat driving back to his villa in Kowloon Tong (Hong Kong) has attracted much attention. The Hong Kong news outlet revealed that this is the house where the star of the film "God of Gamblers" and his wife have lived for decades. The villa was purchased in 1990 for HK$14.7 million, and after many years, its value has been assessed at HK$200 million. This impressive house has an area of nearly 285 square meters and is surrounded by a sturdy fence.
It is known that, in addition to his villa in Kowloon Road, Chow Yun-fat owns a number of other expensive properties. Among them is a detached house in the Sunshine Villa area. In 2010, the veteran star spent a record amount of approximately HK$128 million (over VND 430 billion) to acquire this property. According to data, the house has an area of about 236 square meters with a large garden and sea view. It is furnished in a modern and comfortable style, but the couple rarely visit it and it is not rented out. In October 2022, he put the villa up for sale for HK$220 million but found no buyers. In 2024, the actor reduced the price to HK$195 million but still failed to sell.
HK01 revealed that there is information indicating Chow Yun-fat currently owns at least 8 properties located in various places in Hong Kong, with a total value exceeding HK$1 billion (over VND 3.3 trillion).
Chow Yun-fat in his 70s
Despite possessing an enviable fortune, Chow Yun-fat is known for his simple and down-to-earth lifestyle. Each month, his wife gives him a small allowance, he uses an old phone, and avoids social media. For many years, many Hong Kong residents have been familiar with the image of the actor jogging in the mountains, quietly queuing for food in local markets and restaurants, or shopping in ordinary neighborhoods. The 71-year-old star dedicates much of his time to exercise and has gathered a close group of artists to train together. He inspires, guides, and encourages many long-time colleagues such as Lo Hoi-pang and Cheng Tze-shih to jog, thereby improving their health. The actor has also achieved outstanding results in several marathons.
Chow Yun-fat and his wife, Chen Hui-lian, have been together for 40 years. Chen is known as the "strong woman" behind her husband's success; she manages his career, carefully selects each contract and project, and handles the family's finances. The couple has no children and decided to donate their multi-billion HKD fortune to charity. "No matter what, I think we can't take anything with us when we leave. That's okay, two bowls of white rice a day is enough," the artist shared in 2023.
Chow Yun-fat also admitted that at his age, he takes life and death lightly. "There is birth, and there must be death. I don't care much about wrinkles, I'm not afraid of getting old, on the contrary, I see those things as nothing, that's life," the star of the Shanghai Bund expressed.
In recent years, Chow Yun-fat has only participated in a few film projects but has still maintained his appeal to the public. He has garnered attention with his films: *Don't Call Me a Gambler* (2023), *Detective Chinatown 1900* (2025), and the upcoming * Cold War 1994* .
