Biden: Russians are not our enemies, war is a tragedy, but Putin chose it

Washington [US], February 22: US President Joseph Biden said today from Warsaw that the Russians are not enemies, and war is not a necessity but a tragedy, but that every further day of war is the choice of Russian President Vladimir Putin, while the Western allies will not stop defending democracy and freedom and that they help Ukraine.
"I am addressing the Russians: the USA and the united nations of Europe have no intention of conquering Russia, the Russians are not our enemies. War is not a necessity, war is a tragedy. President Putin chose that war. That war started with words. If Russia would stop attacking Ukraine that would be the end of the war. If Ukraine stopped defending itself, that would be the end of Ukraine," said the American president.
Biden said that today it is again seen that it is not possible to satisfy the appetites of autocrats.
"A dictator who wants to rebuild an empire will never erase people's longing for freedom. Ukraine will never be a victory for Russia. Free people refuse to live in hopelessness," Biden said.
The American president noted that after a year of war, Russia and its president no longer doubt the strength of the Western coalition, but they still doubt that support for Ukraine will continue.
"There should be no doubt about that. NATO will not be divided, we will not get tired. And Putin's thirst for power and land will be defeated. The democracies of the world will stand guard for freedom because that is what it is all about," said Biden.
The American president reminded of the wrong assessments of Russia and its president when he launched the biggest land war in Europe since the Second World War, the attack on Ukraine, that Kiev will fall very quickly, that NATO will be finnished, that energy sources will be made into weapons.
"Kiev is holding on. Putin thought it would go differently. Instead, burnt tanks returned to him. Instead of the Finnishization of NATO, he received the NATOization of Finland and Sweden.
