Hanoi [Vietnam], July 5: the 4th Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF) concluded with numerous awards presented. Among them, 'Battle in the Air' was honored with two awards in the Vietnamese Film in Competition category.
On the evening of July 4th, the closing ceremony and awards presentation of the 4th Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF) took place in Da Nang City. The program was attended by the Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan; the Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Lam Thi Phuong Thanh. In addition, a large number of artists, filmmakers, and film experts from Vietnam and many countries in the region also participated in this special event.
Speaking at the closing ceremony and awards presentation, Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan - President of the Vietnam Film Development Promotion Association and Director of the Da Nang Asian Film Festival - said that DANAFF IV had created many milestones, demonstrating that cinema still possesses a magical power to connect people, overcoming all barriers of language, geography, and culture.
"From the very beginning, we built DANAFF with a simple yet challenging aspiration: to create a space where Vietnamese and Asian cinema meet the world, and where the world has more opportunities to discover Vietnamese cinema. Four years is not a long time for a film festival, but DANAFF IV gives us reason to believe that this journey is on the right track," shared Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan.
During the awards ceremony, the DANAFF jury selected the deserving works, artists, and filmmakers for each award category in the two main areas: Vietnamese films in competition and Asian films in competition.
In the Vietnamese Film Competition category, " Battle in the Air " achieved a "double win," receiving both Best Film and Best Actor awards (Thai Hoa). Also in this category, the film " Searching for the Ambergris Dragon" was honored with two awards: Best Director (Duong Minh Chien) and the Special Jury Prize. The Best Screenplay award went to Oscar Duong (for the film " Money Trap ").
