Bangladesh revokes passport of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina

Jan 08, 2025

Dhaka [Bangladesh], January 8: Bangladesh's interim administration has revoked the passport of its ousted prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, and 74 others for their alleged role in the brutal crackdown on last year's student-led protests against her government, an official said on Tuesday.
Hasina fled to India on August 5 in the face of the violent mass uprising in which the interim government says hundreds of people were killed and thousands more injured over the course of several weeks. She has been accused in a number of criminal cases, including crimes against humanity for the killing of protesters, since an interim government headed by Nobel Peace Prize-winner Muhammad Yunus came to power days later.
