Bahrain's FM urges 'decisive response' to Iran's actions

Apr 03, 2026

Manama [Bahrain], April 3: Bahrain's Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani has said it is "deeply regrettable" that Iran continues to target the GCC states and Jordan, including their civilian infrastructure.
"They spilled pure blood of innocents and terrorised citizens and residents," he said, addressing the UN Security Council.
"It went even further and threatened the global economy by closing the Strait of Hormuz and restricting the freedom of international navigation," the top diplomat said, calling it "a blatant violation of international law".
He reminded the UNSC that Bahrain submitted a draft resolution on Iran's "unlawful and unjustified" attempt to control international navigation at the Strait of Hormuz, calling for a "decisive response".
He said Bahrain hoped for a Council vote on Friday on the resolution to protect commercial shipping in and around the Strait of Hormuz.
