Manila [Philippines], June 23: At least three students were killed and seven wounded in a shooting at a high school in the eastern Philippines on Monday, police said. Two suspects, aged 15 and 14, were arrested following the attack at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City, about 575 kilometres south-east of Manila, regional police director Jason Capoy told reporters."The school has many entrance and exit points, but they only have one security guard deployed during the time of the incident," he said. Police were investigating how the suspects obtained the firearms used in the shooting.
Capoy added that initial reports indicated that one of the suspects was the son of a law enforcement officer. The victims were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, Tacloban City police said in a statement. Authorities were investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and carrying out operations to ensure those responsible were held accountable, police said. . (dpa)
