3 dead after car-truck collision in northern Germany

Berlin [Germany], November 29: Three people were killed on Friday when a car collided head-on with a truck in the northern German state of Lower Saxony, police said.
The crash occurred at around 2 p.m. local time (1300 GMT) on state road L111, when a car attempted to overtake another vehicle in a right-hand bend and crashed into an oncoming truck, according to a police spokesman.
A man and two women in the car, which is believed to have caused the accident, died at the scene. All three were traveling in the same vehicle, police said.
The driver of the vehicle being overtaken was not injured. The truck driver sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital.
Further investigations are underway.
