Vietnam calls for end to violence in Myanmar

Hanoi [Vietnam], March 18: The head of Vietnam's permanent representative mission to the United Nations expressed Vietnam's concerns and called on all parties to stop violence to reach a peaceful solution to the Myanmar issue.
On March 16, the 77th United Nations General Assembly held a session to discuss the situation in Myanmar. At the meeting, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang , Head of the Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the United Nations, expressed Vietnam's concern about the situation in Myanmar , especially the serious humanitarian crisis, which has a great impact on women and children. women and children.
In this context, Vietnam emphasized that the prerequisite is that all parties concerned must exercise maximum restraint, end violence, and begin meaningful and inclusive dialogue in order to achieve a peaceful and sustainable solution. consistent with the will and interests of the people of Myanmar.
At the same time, calling on all parties to fully and effectively implement the 5-point consensus adopted by ASEAN leaders; ensure humanitarian access and health to all and comply with international humanitarian law, in particular the protection of civilians.
Vietnam welcomed the efforts of Indonesia, the ASEAN Chair 2023, and supported the close cooperation between the United Nations and ASEAN in promoting the settlement of the Myanmar issue.
Vietnam also called on the international community to support ASEAN's efforts, promote dialogue and reconciliation on the basis of respect for Myanmar's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity. In addition, strengthen efforts to address the root causes of the refugee situation in Rakkhine State (Myanmar) and facilitate safe, voluntary repatriation and reintegration into the community. copper.
Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang affirmed that as a member of ASEAN and the United Nations Human Rights Council for the term of 2023 - 2025, Vietnam will continue to work closely with ASEAN and the international community to support Myanmar to overcome difficulties. difficulties, promote dialogue, understanding, narrow differences.
