Paris [France], November 10: A rabbi wearing traditional clothing was attacked by a teenager in a central Paris metro station, the police reported on Thursday. Fortunately, the rabbi was not harmed but he is pressing charges, police said. The teenager allegedly attacked and kicked the rabbi in the back on Wednesday after speaking to him in Arabic at the La Chapelle station which connects to the Paris Gare du Nord station. With the help of video surveillance, metro security staff were able to identify and arrest the teenager, who was then taken into police custody. Citing the police, French news broadcaster BFMTV reported that the perpetrator was a teenager who claimed to be a 14-year-old Syrian. There has been a sharp rise in the number of anti-Semitic incidents in many countries since the Hamas terrorist attacks in Israel on October 7. (dpa)
