Suspected Islamic State member arrested at Rome Airport

Rome [Italy], April 9: Italian police have arrested a suspected member of the Islamic State terrorist group at Rome's Fiumicino airport, police said on Monday.
Police said the man, a Tajik national, had travelled to Syria in 2014 to join Islamic State.
He was arrested on the way to the airport railway station after having arrived in Rome on a flight from the Dutch city of Eindhoven, police said.
The man reportedly carried various forged passports, including from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Ukraine.
According to police, an extradition warrant had been issued for him and his arrest was part of comprehensive measures in view of a heightened threat of terrorist attacks.
Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi said that Italy's special counterterrorism unit had received a tip-off about the arrival of the suspected Islamic State member from abroad. (DPA)
