Myanmar reports 54 new COVID-19 cases

Yangon [Myanmar], August 18: Myanmar logged 54 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the tally to 614,510, according to the Ministry of Health on Wednesday.
The health ministry said in a statement that these cases included 45 infected people who returned from abroad.
It added that health authorities tested 6,833 people for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, and the daily positivity rate was 0.79 percent.
The country reported one more death from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 19,437.
The total number of patients who have recovered from COVID-19 in the country reached 593,145 including 27 new recoveries on Wednesday.
The Southeast Asian country detected its first COVID-19 case in March 2020.
