Sarajevo airport sees 41.7 pct passenger growth in Q1

May 08, 2025

Sarajevo [Bosnia], May 8: Sarajevo International Airport recorded a 41.7 percent increase in passenger traffic in the first quarter of 2025 compared with the same period last year, acting director of the airport, Sanin Ramezic has said.
According to data released by Airports Council International Europe (ACI EUROPE) on Tuesday, the airport ranked second in Europe for passenger growth in the "medium airports" category, which includes airports with 1 to 10 million annual passengers.
The growth reflects Bosnia and Herzegovina's strengthening position as a rising aviation market in Europe.
The increase coincides with new routes' announcements from the Gulf region, supported by a government decision to waive visa requirements for citizens of Saudi Arabia, Oman and Bahrain from June 1 to Sept. 30. The policy allows 30-day visa-free stays aimed at boosting tourism.
Sarajevo Airport is working to further expand its network, with plans to establish routes to Amsterdam, Berlin, Eindhoven, and Prague, and connect with long-haul destinations in the future.
