Israel controls wildfires after state of emergency

Jerusalem [Israel], May 3: The announcement came hours after road and rail routes were reopened and evacuees from the area were allowed to return to their homes.
The Fire and Rescue Service added that it will continue its efforts in the coming hours to prevent new fires from breaking out and will open an investigation into the cause of the fire. The blaze, which broke out on the afternoon of April 30, has burned about 20 square kilometers of territory and is the largest fire Israel has seen in the past decade.
At least 12 people were treated at the hospital on April 30, mostly due to smoke inhalation, while 10 others were treated at the scene. About 20 firefighters suffered minor injuries. The Fire and Rescue Service has warned the public to stay away from parks or forests and to be extremely careful when lighting fires to grill food.
